PECTUS CARE

“To care we share”

Pectus deformities can have a profound effect on the development of young patients both physically and psychologically. Treatment of pectus deformities can be very expensive and is therefore not accessible to everyone. We feel that no patient should be denied treatment on the basis of affordability.  To combat this, we have set-up a dedicated charity to help those who cannot afford treatment.

The NHS has recently decommissioned the treatment of pectus deformities. This includes all forms of treatment including both surgical and non-surgical treatments. We have strongly been opposed to this decision and are actively campaigning to re-instate NHS care for pectus deformities. Such deformities can have a profound effect on the development of young patients both physically and psychologically. Treatment of pectus deformities can be very expensive and is therefore not accessible to everyone. We feel that no patient should be denied treatment on the basis of affordability.

To combat this, we have set-up a dedicated charity to help those who cannot afford treatment. Specifically, we are in the process of collecting used bracing equipment by previous patients treated for pectus carinatum. These will be sterilised and refurbished for use once again. We hope to gain enough equipment so that the element of individualised braces is still available. We aim to work in partnership with our bracing technicians to help ensure the right braces are then supplied to the right patient (with modifications if necessary). We also hope to expand this project to the third world where pectus deformities are very low on the healthcare list of priorities. If you have an old brace that is no longer used, please do contact us so that we can help others.
